Fine Dining in Indore: Hotel Restaurants and the City's Food Streets
Indore is known nationally for street food rather than fine dining, and rightly so. But it also has a solid set of hotel restaurants along the Vijay Nagar and AB Road corridor, which is where the city goes for a formal dinner.
Hotel restaurants
- Indore Marriott Hotel — all-day dining and speciality restaurants, the city's usual choice for a business or celebration dinner.
- Radisson Blu Indore — a long-standing option with all-day dining and an Indian signature restaurant.
- Sayaji Indore and Effotel by Sayaji — locally run hotels with multi-cuisine restaurants.
- Sheraton Grand Palace Indore — one of the newer five-star arrivals.
The food streets, which you shouldn't skip
- Sarafa Bazaar — a jewellery market by day that turns into a street food market late at night, running until the early hours. It is the single most distinctive food experience in Madhya Pradesh.
- 56 Dukan — a street of 56 food shops, busy from morning to late evening, with everything from chaat to sweets.
Note that Indore's street food is overwhelmingly vegetarian, which makes the city unusually easy for vegetarian visitors.
What to expect to pay
A hotel dinner for two typically runs ₹2,500 to ₹4,500. A full evening at Sarafa or 56 Dukan costs a few hundred rupees a head. Confirm prices with the restaurant, since hotel rates change through the year.
