How Much Does a Massage Cost in India? Prices by City and Treatment
Massage prices in India range from ₹1,000 to over ₹7,000 for what is nominally the same hour, and the difference has almost nothing to do with the quality of the massage. It has to do with what else you're paying for: a hotel, a palace, an airport terminal, or none of those.
The four price tiers
| Tier | One hour, one person | What you're paying for |
|---|---|---|
| Ayurvedic treatment centre | ₹1,000 to ₹2,500 | The treatment itself, in a clinical setting |
| Neighbourhood chain spa | ₹1,930 | A consistent hour, close to home |
| Hotel and club spa | ₹2,999 to ₹4,499 | The hour plus the hotel: changing rooms, steam, sometimes pool access |
| Palace, premium and airport spas | ₹3,999 to ₹6,999 | The setting, or the convenience of being where you already are |
Prices by city
| City | Cheapest hour | Typical hotel spa | Couples, one hour |

| Kolkata | ₹1,800 | ₹3,499 to ₹4,499 | ₹3,600 to ₹7,599 |
| Bangalore | ₹1,930 | ₹3,499 to ₹3,999 | ₹5,449 to ₹6,999 |
| Pune | ₹1,930 | ₹3,499 to ₹4,499 | ₹5,449 to ₹7,599 |

The cheapest genuine options
- Ayurville, Kochi, 30-minute Ayurvedic treatment — ₹1,000
- Arogya Ayurveda, Ballygunge, Kolkata, one hour — ₹1,800
- Four Fountains Koramangala, Bangalore, one hour — ₹1,930
- Four Fountains Koregaon Park, Pune, one hour — ₹1,930
- Zivaya Spa, Treasure Island, Indore, one hour — ₹2,999
Where the money goes above ₹3,500
A ₹4,499 hotel spa hour and a ₹1,930 chain spa hour use similar techniques for similar durations. What the extra ₹2,500 buys is the environment: quieter rooms, better changing facilities, steam or sauna access, and sometimes the pool. Whether that's worth it depends on whether you'll use the rest of it. If you're going in and straight out, the chain spa is the better buy.
The exceptions are the settings you can't get anywhere else: a palace spa in Udaipur at ₹3,999, or an hour at Mumbai T2 at ₹6,000 in the middle of a long layover.
Couples pricing, and the per-minute trap
A ₹5,449 one-hour couples massage looks cheaper than a ₹6,431 ninety-minute one. Per person per minute, it's ₹45 against ₹36. If the point is a long afternoon, the 90-minute treatment is the better buy despite the higher ticket.
What isn't usually included
- Tips. Not compulsory; ₹100 to ₹300 is common at spas where they're accepted.
- Add-ons such as a scrub, a facial or extended time.
- Pool and gym access at some hotel spas, which is sometimes sold separately.
